new chair pair project

I know, I know, it’s been a while since I posted anything about what I have been working on – I have been busy, OK?  Enough with the guilt trip, you guys!  Anyway, I haven’t been just sitting on my duff as you might have thought – I know what you are thinking…spooky……I have actually had a pair of chairs that I bought off a friend at work for $25 (for the pair) sitting around and waiting for inspiration to strike.  Well, inspiration has struck in the form of a Joann’s Fabrics coupon so I went and got a really great deal on some khaki and white filligree upholstery fabric ($30 for a LOT of yardage).  Since the fabric is fairly neutral in color tones, I decided to amp up the chair frames and bought some bright red (Tomato Red) Krylon Fusion spraypaint.  Endorsement alert: while I am not paid to say this (hint hint folks a Krylon…) I am a huge fan of the Krylon Fusion line because it allows for a LOT of corner cutting which, when I am in a lazy mood (and let’s face it – that is quite often) I love me some corner-cutting.  It says on the can “no sanding or priming” and, based on my experience, it works!  I have used it on two projects now and the only prep I did to the stained and sealed wood was to wash it down before spraying.  No problems with the paint finish as of yet.  Yay for time saving!  Anyway, am in the middle of refinishing this chair pair and have essentially ripped off the old padding and vinyl, spray-painted the frames, and started attaching the new fabric…..so far so good!  Here are some progress shots…
